Life Prison is intended primarily for adults. Some of the stories are also appropriate for older teenage readers.
The series focusses upon friendship and male homoerotic attraction. Because of the prison setting, the stories sometimes address the topics of emotional, sexual, and physical abuse, including child abuse. The abuse is sometimes depicted. The series contains no depictions of underage sex.
