The illustration on this page depicts a young man with shorn hair and bandaged wrists, who is kneeling with head bowed before a slightly older man. The older man, who is sitting in a chair, has a chain around his neck and is frowning as he looks down upon the young man. The scene takes place outdoors; in the background is a large, Renaissance-style estate house with over 250 windows in view.
