Michael's House is intended primarily for adults, due to its subject matter, which deals with the ethical issues surrounding youth prostitution in a fantasy setting based on Edwardian times. Because of the setting, the stories sometimes address the topics of emotional, sexual, and physical abuse, including child abuse. The series contains no depictions of underage sex. The primary focus of the story is on the interactions between the adult characters.
